The connection between English and Spanish is that in both subjects we are seeing

Latin-American identity from the same perspective, which is understanding the present based on the past. This perspective focuses on what happened in the past like for example, The Apartheid, The British Imperialism and The Colonization of América and how does that situations have molded who each person is and the way he or she lives in the world.

For example, if the British Imperialism would not have happened, USA and Canada wouldn't be what they are today and the British people either because the natives who lived in USA and Canada were extinted by the British. As a result the mayority if the British people wouldn't think that everyone is less than them and their ancestors wouldn't have taught them to be like this. Similarily if the colonization of America wouldn't have happened, the citizens wouldn't be so advanced in all the aspects and wouldn't have the traditions and beliefs that they have today.
