ANSWERS:

Question 1

Time and place determine identity because it is different to acquire identity in USA than in any of the Latin-American countries because of the events that have happened in both countries. For example living in USA is very different that living in Colombia because for example in USA there is a very strong history of racism and nowadays bullying is very common while in Colombia this is not that common.

And in time it is different to live in the 1492 than in the present because the things that will mold my identity will be different based in the context and living experiences. For example, it was different to live in the colonization of American that today (2017) because in 1492 the indigenous had to change all their beliefs and traditions due to the arrival of the Spanish people while in 2017 the only change in identity will be that the Acuerdo de Paz with the FARC group was done.

Question 2

The role of artistic manifestations is to express feelings and ideas in the composition for the spectator to understand what is happening in the composition and feel what the artist feels about the topic the artwork is talking about. And the role of these artistic compositions with the construction of identity is to show the spectator the culture of the artist that in this case is from the Latin-American countries and show him or her the past, the present, the place and time in which this artist lives.

Personally, I reflect on the topic of identity when I think about the cover I made in Arts because it represents some years ago in my life when I had some friends that ended up defending the girl I was fighting with instead of staying with me. The conflict I chose to represent gives me those images of my life and I hadn't realized this until some days ago with the creation of this interdisciplinary unit.
